2013 was our 2nd year as a band. We had a great time, we met some lovely people, and some proper helmets as well. We had some mighty highs and some devestating lows. We wrote some great songs and played some great gigs and here is our year in review:

In January we got some great radio play by Simon Raymonde on his show for Amazing Radio. It was nice to get a bit of praise from the boss of Bella Union. We also got played on BBC radio for the first time as well, which was great because people who weren’t just our mates text in loving it.Then we went our after that and had it large!. We were also featured on Punkalicious Vol.2 So it all started really well!

March saw us go up north to Our House in Manchester. We nearly didn’t make it because Ben’s Aunt’s van didn’t want to go above 40 mph for the first part of the jounry! It was also the first time Emerging Icons, and The Huffington Post picked up on us

April we got in to the studio with Eagle Radio to talk a little bit about us and we started recording DEMO 1

In May we played a great all day event call Stokie Fest, thanks to the lovely Kevin Hall. We also went in to see Mr David Durant for a chat. Most enjoyable radio interview to date!

June was a pretty quite month for us. We played lots of gigs, and set up a load of cool summer gigs!

July saw one of our new songs Oh No Yoko get some more radio play on Amazing Radio, this time was by Aaron Phillips who gifted us another sweet bio quote! We also played Summer Westival, we were on first and expected no one to see us, but loads of people did. The Eagle Radio even interviewed us again!

August we finally released DEMO 1, and the world was introduced to our most popular song, For The Boys, which was made track of the day on Rose Coloured. We also supporting the mighty Oi legends, and Sid from Club Velocity’s favourite band, Hardskin!

September was cool, because we were asked to play at Amy Winehouse’s tribute gig at The Dublin Castle, and Aaron Phillips played another one of our songs, Won’t Ya on his show!

October we made it on the front page of Emerging Icons, and we played Oxjam takeover in Reading.

November we supporting The Virginmary for the 2nd time, and played to a brilliant crowd. We were also short listed for MTV Unsigned for 2014, which we triumphantly lost. November then took a sad turn when Marty announced he was leaving the band but

And here we are in December. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shown belief in us, and/or helped us out, notabley: Sid and Mal, Shani and Mike, Kev Hall, Bones, The Fail, Terrics, Robert Horrocks, Tom Backshall, Lucy at Emerging Icons, The Jetsonics, The Bloody Thumbs, Lydia at The Boileroom, James Watt, Jack Vicent, George Moss, Gemma Milner, Neil Robbins, Rose Coloured, Rudeina Elchammaa, Gary Sarum, Colin Holton, Simon Arthur, Joanne Kelly, and of course our ever suffering loved ones, Lucy & Caroline.

So we didn’t get the multi million pound record deal, and the NME haven’t told everyone it’s ok to like us yet. But you people do, so thanks for making 2013 a great year. Lets try and make 2014 just as good, if not better!

Long Live The Cottonettes
