Mom is in hospice care now. What it turned out to be was massive strokes caused by diabetes related blood sugar issues. She's essentially brain-dead, with about 5% brain function. We took her off the ventilator last Friday morning and she's still somehow hanging on.
The fucked up thing is how some people who don't believe that my siblings and I made the right decision by taking her off the ventilator think they have the right to voice those opinions. Believe it or not, there is some guilt to doing that, and it's absolutely destroying my siter, who talked to my mother at least 10 times a day (yeah, they were that tight). The funny thing is, these people won;t tell any of that shit to me...the know what the reaction would be. They just tell my sister, who's on the verge of breaking down at any moment anyway. It's fucked up I tell ya.
I'll be fine. Life must go on. I believe that when you have a child, the right to break down is taken from you. She's still my number 1 priority.

People have no right to judge you and your family for taking her off the ventilator. I can't believe how rude people can be sometimes
I am sorry for everything you are going through right now. and I'm sure it's not worth much coming from someone you don't know, but I agree with your decision. It's a hard one, but imo the right one. You seem to be a very brave and strong person, sounds like your mother did a great job raising you. ♥
