Well, it's another day, and even though I was all emoing out compliments of seeing Garden State yesterday, everything was made better by the pseudo-appreciation thread by quasi_sean and Idjiit, they rock loads of ass.

anyway, here's Chapter 5 of my story. enjoy! it's a total transition chapter, but still hopefully enjoyable none the less. biggrin

Between Smoke and Cigarettes: Chapter 5

The cold air rushed through Kates hoodie as she walked down the street. Kate got up early that morning and decided to take a walk around town. She passed the new apartment building being built near St. Marks Place and quickly looked it over while waiting for the walk sign to flash, whilst the sparks from the workers torches fell from above like a meteor shower, hitting the ground and dissipating as if they never existed at all. There was a breakfast cart man on the other side of the street, every morning selling fifty cent cups of coffee and warm toasted bagels so he could make a little extra money for his family. Kate would always go to him for breakfast whenever she was eating out, shed get her coffee, black as always, and with a smile wish him a good day before walking off to go on with her day.

She took her coffee and made her way across two streets, until she found a lonely bench in the middle of Union Square. She noticed that for some reason the air seemed calmer than usual, the clouds were out during the morning and she could actually gaze up at the sky before the sun burst out like a huge never ending firework forever burnt into the morning skyline. The morning was a funny thing in New York City, Kate thought, in some of the semi-early hours (Kate noticed it most from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.) certain buildings would turn into an orange glow, then it would suddenly just fade away as finally everyone creeped out of their respective places of residence and took to the hustle and bustle of the big city.

As she looked around Union Square she wrote down what she was going to do that day in her notebook. She started off by making sure she wrote down see mystery bartender sometime. Thinking about him had become a daily exercise, pondering over future possible dates, how he kissed, if he liked her favorite TV shows and shared an interest in mixtapes and obscure bands. She decided though to give it a rest until shed hopefully see him that afternoon.
