Tonight just reenforced how much friends mean to me. Even though I couldn't stay for the performance, I arrived at the Elefant performance early to hang and chat with the guys. They gave me an impromptu private concert complete with three brand new songs, and three of my favorites, "Now That I Miss Her", "Bokkie", and "Tonight Let's Dance". After I caught up on all of their recent events, tour schedules, and demos going on in their lives, Diego (lead singer), came up to me red-eyed and with a huge scarf wrapped around his neck, sniffled, and said.

"Hey man, where's dinner around here?"

After much hubub and confusion, I finally rounded up Diego, Mod, Kevin and JJB to go to the local El Rodeo, for some North Carolina mexican food. We went outside and I saw their van, which was quite small, but just big enough for 4 guys and equipment, and I led them to the illustrious El Rodeo.

When we got there Diego instantly started speaking in all spanish (he was born in Argentina and was raised in Florida) to the waiter, and got us a couple of tables and some cheese dip for our chips. We all sat around and talked about the White Stripes, the music industry as it is, and my businesses, as well as fun topics such as musical influences, new songs of theirs, and stories from the road. They were incredibly nice and surprisingly, JJB was the nicest, complimenting me on my accolades, as well as giving me some interesting musical advice, and reassurement that Full Sail was a good school, which was nice to hear.

I've had a hard month, and tonight took that month and turned it into something very productive, because I know how much my friends mean to me, how much even some of my friends/idols are really, really cool people. And it makes it easier for me to filter through the bad to get to the good when I have the words of Diego in the back of my head on repeat....

"dude, you own three businesses, that's insane, but anyway, I have to go now, but I love you man, good luck on everything"

So as a message to everyone who reads this journal, please remember that if you care about any of your friends, and they respect you, your kind words could make such a HUGE difference in their lives and the way they view themselves.

Rock.

Elefant'll be in Washington, DC tomorrow night, and Philadelphia, PA the following night, please go out and see them, buy a shitload of merch, and tell them that Angus from Raleigh sent you. wink
