ELIAS RETURNS...
Tonight, on the late-night bus home... something interesting happened. Interesting to me, at least.
A rather attractive woman had pulled the request stop cord a little late for the Lansdowne stop. And to her visible, but unvocalized dismay, the driver didn't stop the bus for three or four more blocks, (at Symington.)
At the time I wasn't reacting veryt fast, but knowing that Symington to Lansdowne was a bad area, it slowly started to sink in that she might actually have been in some form of danger. (Unbeknownst to the bus driver, I gather.) And therein lies what may be tragedy.
Upon disembarking at my stop, I quickly and non-confrontationally turned to tell the him, "the girl who wanted Lansdowne, but you let her off at Symington. I hope she's alright."
Immediately, with what seemed as fast as some reptillian-brain reflex, he snapped back, "why?"
It's been a long ride, and it's too late.
"I just do," I replied, stepping out the door.
I just do.
