I hate when girls on the subway insist on looking at me while they are with their boyfriends. I imagine they laugh about it together. "Ha! Look at the creepy single dude, honey! Doesn't he just look so awkward when he averts his eyes?"

Yeah, I get that too. The trick is to hold the stare JUST long enough that they become uncomfortable, but the boyfriend doesn't see. You'll know you've "won" when they look away and scratch the back of their neck, nervously.
