It's about time we had some real gun control in this country. I'm sorry but the "right to bear arms" is an antiquated holdover from colonial times and should go. The whole "guns don't make people bad" stance is a tired argument. It's gotta stop.

as thanatogenous said...as have many, many others. "guns don't kill people, people kill people". as a gun owner, i see my guns as a recreational activity, not a means to bring harm to others.
shooting at ranges ...in the desert....is fun...and that's all.
that being said there has got to be more strict gun laws. I was able to purchase a shotgun in about an hour. it took an hour as my address on my drivers license has changed (which i could have most likely lied about). i was instructed to get a fishing license. i got one. i gave them (verbally) my new address. no proof of. but stated it as fact.
gun shop took my written on, no proof of other than "good faith" fishing license as proof of my current address.
five minute background check later and i was the proud new owner of a shotgun. it's pretty. and it looks like it could kill lots of zombies. but i doubt they took the time to consider whether or not i was arming up for the zombie apocalypse or if i were arming up in order to shoot down innocent people.
more strict gun laws are necessary. make it a felony to sell your personal fire arm to john doe. if you don't want it, turn it in to a licensed vendor, etc.
making owning a gun illegal will not make the crimes stop, it will just make those who wish to use guns against the innocent easier to hide, as there's not a bit of a paper trail.

sincerely,

totally not the NRA
