I've never been to IKEA before today. The nearest one is over an hour away, and means braving Kerry Katona's hometown. I don't think I've been remiss in avoiding it like the plague. Still, Louisa needed some new bed slats and with me visiting Sweden later this year I have a newfound affinity with these people, I stopped making her watch ridiculously vicious hockey hits on youtube and off we went.

I fucking love that place. Quite aside from the awesome (not really AWESOME, but edible, moreish and cheap) hotdogs and other cool scandinavian food, there's just something strangely relaxing about the place. I never in a million years thought there'd be anything tranquil about a massive warehouse filled with screaming children.

Bed slats were found and I also bought myself a display case. You know, the glass kind that geeks like me have for putting action figures in (Thats exactly what I bought it for) I went around looking at things and for the first time in my life had an opinion on furniture and interior design. It didnt extend much beyond "thats much nicer than that" but you have to crawl before you can walk.

After struggling to fit a ridiculously long piece of flatpack furniture into the back of a 51 plate Renault Clio it was back to Chester where I was given chicken soup because of my man-flu. Also I watched some of The Clangers which was okay, but I never realised just how much there was about politics and stuff in there.

Back in the hills I spent 3 hours assembling my new monolith of nerdery, removing the dust from my figures and setting them up inside. Turns out the fucking things really dont like standing on glass, so theyre supporting each other like a house of cards. I just know I'll come back from work tomorrow and it'll be fucked.

Also I've decided to learn how to make sushi, so thats another endeavour I dont have time for added to the list. Yay
