I've said on many occasions something along the lines of "I want a girl who likes videogames" I'm ready to admit I was wrong. They're all fucking mental. Crazy with a K (that one doesnt work so well in text)

After just 2 days of working in Gamestation I'm quickly starting to realise that there's an entire demographic of creepy geeks I didnt even know existed. I mean, I thought I was at the more dense end of the geek spectrum but it turns out my powers are feeble compared to some. It's awesome because a lot of these people are regular customers, and when one of the guys I'm working with spots them coming through the door I'll usually hear something like "Oh shit, its Retro Girl!" before getting the backstory about that particular customer and what makes them creepy/annoying.

In Retro Girl's case, she's obsessed with Nintendo and just a little bit odd. Apparently her routine is to approach an employee and simply ask "Anything I should know?" and at that point they should dispense any Nintendo news they feel appropriate. Also for some reason she absolutely HATES The Beatles - with a fiery passion. The story is that one time in Alton Towers she was queueing up for a ride and they were playing The Beatles over the p.a. After a few hours she got to the front of the queue and found the ride had broken down. She now associates The Beatles with this tragic moment in her life and she hates them so much that she gets a nervous twitch when she hears it. She's even asked management to make sure The Beatles are never on the stereo when she comes into the shop. Guess what the first thing they do is when she comes in?

There's something so fucking hilarious about seeing someone run for the back door and simply shouting "Mark! Beatles!" to the guy in the office with the CD player.

Despite some annoying but fair restrictions to the staff discount policies, and the horrible commute that leaves me shattered at the end of the day I'm already MUCH preferring it to my shitty old job. I knew I was in the right place when I spotted this on the breakroom door :

oh dude, i know what you mean about levels of geekiness. I used to work for Gamestation too wink
we used to have a guy who had half a beard who would buy a playstation and then come back a week later and sell it for cash. Then he'd come in a week later and buy another playstation, and then - yes - sell it again. On and on it went. The cash prices are so shit he pissed so much money away...
or Electro-Shock Boy who sat down in the store and started to read through for an hour the manuals of Master System games that someone had left in the boxes.
lol - could i be any more of a washed up old man wanting to recount my old Gamestation days? wink
