I'm not overly sure how I feel today.
The hockey season is now over. Last night's game was a fairly mediocre end to an otherwise awesome series - but I can't really complain because the team I hate the least came through and won.
The Carolina Hurricanes are the new Stanley Cup champions and I'm fairly happy simply because the Oilers didnt win. Oh how i hate the Oilers....fuck them. I thought Carolina did really well to win, playing most of the playoffs without their most productive player and its great to see players like Glen Wesley FINALLY get their name on the cup.
In other news I went to the cinema last night for an odd double bill. I dont pay anymore because of my Unlimited Card thingy, so i'm far less stringent with what I watch. I wanted to see Hard Candy so that was a given, but I also got dragged along to the new Fast and the Furious movie. "Switch your brain off and it'll be okay"
They were right. If you ignore the stupid dialogue, the unsettling homo-eroticism and all the bits where they make out that "drifting" is some kind of ancient martial arts discipline thingy then its okay. At the end of the day its really loud and has fast cars crashing and stuff - and this one didnt have Paul Walker
I thought Hard Candy was really really good. Of the 4 of us that went, 2 really liked it while the other 2 didnt so I guess it could go either way. If you're one of those people who thought Jarhead was shit because there wasnt any actual combat then you probably wont like this either - a film thats basically 2 people talking in a room. It was uncomfortable to watch in parts and Ellen Page did a fucking great job.
