Today I was subject to my first ever PR shitstorm. It was surreal if nothing else. Some pseudo-journalist from a trade magazine called us up demanding our comments on a product recall we have going on. The jist of her phonecall was "My deadline is in a few hours. I need a statement from you, and if... Read More
There's nothing quite like getting whined at for stuff that predates your time with a given company, let alone your time within the relevant role at said company.
The capsule version is that I now work in the warranty dept at my company. Our stockists carry out warranty work and then put in a claim with us to get... Read More
Thanks for all the recommendations. A lot of it I was already aware of, but its given me some stuff to look out for. Finding new bands is awesome, and there are a few now that I wish I could go back to when I first heard them, back when everything was new.
I also found the download page for the free compilations Punktastic have... Read More
For ages now the only albums I've been really listening to have been new releases from bands I've already known and have liked for a while. Spoiled by music TV through my more formative years I'm struggling to find new stuff I like now that its all just landfill indie.
Say Anything
Hit The Lights
Forever the Sickest Kids
Horse the Band
Kids in Glass Houses
Nine Black Alps
Cobra Starship
The Cab
Although most of these were newly recommended to me! Not sure if they are your thing though. Let me know what you think.
And my fave album of the moment is 'Punk goes Crunk' - as its hilarious.
If somebody staunchly refuses to bother taking part in the lottery, almost looking down on those that pin all their hopes on it, spends a lot of time thinking about how he'd spend such a windfall - does that make them hypocritical or just stupid? Every now and then I'll drift off for a few minutes (usually while driving) thinking of all the awesome but... Read More
In a way I dislike revelations, by which I mean the sudden realisations of things, not the especially crazy last book of the bible. On the one hand there's the good feeling of having an epiphany and the odd sense that maybe you've got your thinking cap on for a change and that it was damn impressive of you to have thought of that.
I can already tell this isn't going to go very well. Reading more of "Bye Bye, Balham" it dawned on me that Richard Herring actually leads an interesting life, what with being a moderately successful stand-up comedian with a talent for being amusing. The mundane parts of a comedian's life are always going to be more interesting than the mundane parts of... Read More
I saw Green Zone last night and throughly enjoyed it. I was a little gutted that they showed a trailer for Iron Man 2 but it wasn't the new one but still I cannot wait for that and Kick Ass looks excellent too.
That video is awesome, it reminds me I really need to get around to watching Caprica.
As you may be able to see from my display picture, I met Richard Herring after his "Hitler Moustache" show in Rhyl, of all places. I've been a fan of his since Fist of Fun so it was awesome to get a picture alongside him with the fake, velcro moustache he'd kindly provided for myself and other attendees.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
Made a sideways move in work and am now toiling in customer care. Basically i deal with people speaking to me like shit, whinging about warranties and threatening legal action over trivial matters. On the other hand though its probably less work/responsibility than before, the days fly by, no more working weekends AND im on more money.... Read More
I don't really like Regina Spektor too much on the whole, but this song has been getting to me lately. Anyone that's been to see a certain movie recently will know why. Fucking heartbreaking
