I have a big soul baring blog working it's way around my mind right now, so I will probably type that up tonight or tomorrow, somewhere in there, but until then here's something that went through my mind whilst half awake...or was I half asleep.

I was listening to my ipod to fall asleep, and since I had talked about George Harrison I decided that I would listen to Let it Roll, his greatest hits album that his wife put out posthumously. Great album by the way, as it is just all Harrison awesomeness. biggrin

Okay, so first off, where does my love for George Harrison come from? The album On Cloud 9, came out when I was a little guy, it's the one with Got My Mind Set On You, still one of my all time favorite songs, whenever it comes on, a smile shows up on my face. Well my parents aren't all that much about music, so it wasn't like I grew up being exposed to bands before my time, so I heard that album before I ever heard anything by the Beatles, or at least that I knew was the Beatles as I am sure I had to have heard them at some point, basically impossible not to.

So George is my favorite Beatle because of his solos album that came out when I was a little guy, makes perfect sense right? Well it's also because I see myself in him too. I am the guy that is a great part of the group, I back my friends up, we work together well, and then every once in a while I come forward with something great, a Here Comes the Sun type thing, and then I move back into my role. I am happy with it, people can acknowledge it, it works.

So the half lucid thought that turned into a dream. I thought about what it would have been like for the little Matt to meet George Harrison after hearing On Cloud 9. He would have thought it cool, but had no idea about the history of the man himself. That's where the twist in thought came in, what if the boy's joy at meeting this artist yet not really knowing who he was turned into a pen pal situation. What if the artist liked the encounter so much that he reached out, and this boy slowly over time grew up with a famous friend that he talked about mundane things with because he didn't know enough to fawn over him. The artist liked it because it was genuine adoration by the boy, and not sycophantic in nature.

Wouldn't you know it, I drifted back into sleep and this became my dream, the writing back and forth, and the friendship that formed and blossomed from it. As the music continued to play in my ears, the story continued to unfold in my subconscious and it was good. biggrin
