I love how I can sit and marvel at my intelligence and memory, how super fantastic it is and all that ballyhoo. Then I encounter a problem like I had with my thesis and page numbering. The school has specific guidelines to follow for the paper, it's format etc. etc. I was doing just fine with the paragraphs, the citations, things of that nature, but I couldn't get the damn thing to number the way I wanted it to. 
You see I wanted it to start numbering with page 3 and I wanted that to be numbered 1. I figured it would be an easy set of mouseclicks and then done, but no that was not to be my fate. I could almost get it to do what I wanted, but it kept starting with the second page as page two and that was pissing me off so that I walked away for damn near a week.
Well today I got a section break inserted after the little paper clip explained that to me, and once I had done that I could number that section the way I wanted to... leaving a number off the first one and starting with the second one. Dammit all it's still putting a 2 on what I want to be a 1, what the hell.
Agravation settles in on me and I hem and haw for a while and then bingo... start the numbering at 0 and the second page will magically become a 1 just like you wanted, wow. Shit, always easier than I make it.
So basically I should have just consulted the damn paper clip right away rather than leering at his helpful and almost too cheerful face. Then I probably wouldn't have stressed it or been as frustrated, but guys don't do that right?
So thank you wise and wonderful universe for reminding me that not everything can be as great as you imagine it to be in your own mind, the little paper clip is my ultimate equalizer you see.
