Okay, so I am typing away at my thesis, and it's going pretty damn good, wondering why I procrastinated actually, but that's been my m.o. for years so I guess it is what is, as long as it gets done and defended I really don't care.

But anyway in the back of my head I have had something bothering me and I can't figure out what the hell it is exactly. See I heard a song that talks about "out in the back woods, down in the holler" and I have heard about a holler off and on in my life, but I cannot figure out what it is exactly, and this could be one of those weird distracting things that haunt me.

Wikipedia is being no help, will you be?

Do you know what a holler is?

Are these the droids you seek?

Seriously though, have you heard of a holler?, do you know what it is exactly or figuratively?

Any help is appreciated.

Edited to add-----> I asked the guy from down south that I work with and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He said with the drawl, or accent hollow becomes holler in hick speak, and that a hollow is like a canyon or gulley. So Boom, there ya have it.
