I went with the topic work because there wasn't one about crazy wild animals, and since my quasi-encounter happened at work, let's go with that, shall we?

This is what almost attacked me Sunday night at work.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I know right? Viscious looking little bastard isn't he?

It was the damnedest thing ever.

We had been moving locomotives around in the yard getting them in the proper spots and on the proper tracks when I noticed a cottontail literally running around by one of the tracks and in the parking lot. I marveled at how fast he was, and thought it was pretty cool to see the gu zooming around out there.

My partner and I were moving a locomotive up the load box track, the last track I had seen him zooming around. I noticed him over in the parking lot, probably about 200 feet away or more. I was keeping my eye on him and the locomotive in front of me when all of a sudden he took off running full tilt at me. I didn't think he was actually running at me but in my direction, but as he quickly came my way I realized he was going to turn off at any given time

I waved off my partner so that he would stop moving as I didn't want to run him over if he tried to go in front of me, when I realized that wasn't what he was going to do. He came right at me and if I hadn't been on the steps of the loco I don't know what he would have done, because he jumped at me, literally came a few feet off the ground at me. It was redonkulous what was happening. He landed and seemed to stare at me. I was laughing my ass off and could feel a slight adrenaline rush from it all.

He ran around some more and then decided to just hang out. It was one of the most entertaining almost attacks I had ever seen. I periodically saw him throughout the rest of the night hanging our and running around, I swear that guy had to have hit 20-30 mph. I didn't see him last night, but I will keep my eyes peeled tonight.

Last night we had a bout of hoodlumism occur. Around 5am we heard that a couple of the guys were going to have to go get pictures and see what the damage was, because a coal train leaving town had hit a truck. Initially thoughts of carnage and hurt people come to mind an you hope that everyone would have been able to get out of the way. Today we found out that this had happened north of here in another town, apparently someone or group of someone's is stealing vehicles and parking them on tracks for trains to hit. Luckily that is all this was and no one was hurt, but that's fucked up right?

Anyways, tonight is my Friday, I slept like shit today, but coffee will get me through my 11pm to 7am shift, that and the knowledge that I have two days off after.

Triple word on everything you said about the ASPCA and farmers. Let's get serious, people! It is called an ecosystem for a reason. Yeesh.

I am intrigued by this recalibrating of priorities and getting stuff did, my friend. This sounds good. I presume there was some academic stuff, as well as other life stuff involved, no? And btw I know you are over the night shift but your job is really cool to me. You are the first person I have ever met (does this constitute meeting?) who actually is working on the railroad all the livelong day. Do you think trains/light rail/that kind of mass transit is the wave of the future? Curious.

Cults. If I say take me to your leader does that make me susceptible? biggrin I have yet to watch the most recent Jim Jones documentary, but I want to. I remember first hearing about them when I was a wee little and being interested even then. Sometime before 10 I had a copy of Helter Skelter. True crime was more sanitzied for television back then so I would watch things. I saw Fatal Vision so many times. Creepiness.

Have a good worknight, friend!
