Just saw this and had to share.
okay let's make this one things that entertain me lately and forever in my life, sound good?
Let's start with something that I have loved since as long as I can remember.
That's right, it's a monkey riding a dog dressed as a cowboy, I love that shit. I can remember when I was a kid they had a dog/monkey act like that come to town during the fair as entertainment at the rodeo and I was hooked. They had pictures of him available and that picture was on my wall all through my childhood, I wish I still had it, I'd frame it and make it all adult. When Taco John's brought on Whiplash for their commercials I was through the roof with excitement.
I told my roommate at the time about it and we had a big discussion that resulted in him and a buddy of his (who were talking about owning a bar at the time) saying they should have that at their bar and every once in a while a bell would ring and out comes monkey and dog for a quick trip around the bar and then back into their area. We laughed and thought it would be cool, but to me, that was the bar I wanted to give myself liver damage in, oh yes.
The DC storyline Blackest Night.
This story is fascinating to me as their are the various colored rings that are masters of different emotions, and then the black rings they face off against which is death as a force. Geoff John's the architect of it all is a brilliant writer and I am loving every geeky page of these various books. I can pretty much say, no I can unequivocaly say that anything Johns writes, I'm buying it, and more-than-likely I am loving it.
Something I learned
Had a bit of a blowup at the Sadorf house the other day with all three members mad about something stupid and over-reacting for various reasons. The night of the dust up I was stubborn and refusing to apologize for anything because I didn't feel I had anything to apologize for. Then yesterday morning at work I decided to email and apologize for my actions as it was something easy to do and wouldn't hurt anything even though I still didn't feel I had anything to apologize for. A few hours later I received an email response with an apology within it. I felt better, smiled a bit, and realized that sometiems the easy thing is the right thing even if we feel it is unneeded.
Guess it basically comes down to looking out for others and having that come back to you when you do.
Dead Snow
I had been looking forward to this one for a while, ever since I first heard about it. A group of people go to a cabin in the mountains only to find that their are a horde of zombie nazis that live there. It's in German so you wind up reading the movie, but when carnage starts there isn't really much for sub-titles as you can imagine. Netflix instant spoiled me by putting this one up the day it came out so that I wouldn't have to go through one of those long wait deals in the dvd queue. I watched it last night and really enjoyed it, is it perfect, no, is it entertaining in the same vein as a Evil Dead, yes.
edited to add..
Norwegian, it's in Norwegian, I knew that, it was just a test to see who the true fans are.
Something I have missed out on
After having various comments back and forth I have realized that I missed out on the complete Catholic child experience as I did not get to attend a Catholic school, of course I have kind of realized that maybe my hormones back then wouldn't have been able to cope, so maybe it was a good thing.
Someone else might argue that I missed out on the whole Catholic child experience because I was an altar boy for about 5 or 6 years and I never got molested. That's fine by me, by the way.
Jack White
This prolific bastard is so high on my list of favorite musicians. I mention this because apparently The White Stripes have a new cd coming out this spring and that get's me a bit excited. That band is pretty damn cool, then you throw the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather in the mix and you have three distinctive sounds that all make my ears happy to hear.
Facebook
It's a cliche and all that but it's nice to have as I can keep in touch with friends of mine I don't get to see on a daily basis, I get to play scrabble with other friends, and I get to see all the fun I miss out on which inspires me to get my ass in gear and get all my shit together to move on with life like I need to.
British television
Throughout the years I have found various shows of theirs that I have liked, and with satellite and now digital cable I can watch BBC America and catch other shows that are awesome. I also happen to be addicted to BBC1 when I listen to Sirius. Last week I watched the first two series' of Skins and loved that ridiculous drama, loved it. Then of course their is the original Office, Coupling, and the holy grail of it all Doctor Who, yeah these shows make me wish I was British a little. Also makes me think my dream of living in London for a year would be an even better idea then I used to think. Of course I happen to be a sucker for British accents so there is a good chance I would be a love sick puppy while I lived there, but I could handle that.
I think that might be enough for now, if I think of more I will write a new blog, but that's some reading for you people to do.
