Why do people fix cosmetic damages to their cars after an accident? confused

well, i'm going to fix mine because it's from hitting a deer. not me, the previous owner-and i don't like that reminder every time i see the dent in my passenger door.
oh, no worries on the wax-it took so long to get to you-count it as free. but i'll still go to watercourse any time.
i went riding the last two mondays and the wax is still holding up after getting put on two years ago. but i'm sure it would help to re-apply.
