Well, I am back in town having had a really smashing time away in the lakes. I figured it best to explain via the power of the walking-talking-picture-taking-stick...
DAY ONE

The first day was lovely, I've only been to Windermere once before, about 10 years ago (which is shocking considering how close it all is to Mcr), I remembered bits of it, if not precisely how busy it got!
So I spent the day walking around the lake, and enjoying the sunset...
DAY TWO

Unfortunately... it didn't last. My plan for the day was a walk up the lake and then to head for the hills, so I stuck to it! With the prescience of a ginger Nostradamus I'd purchased myself a fancy new North Face coat the day before (for y'know, all them hikes in the country I go on... that and popping to the shops for a paper).
Apparently you can see over to Morecambe bay, although not on this day.
Which meant me doing my best Clint Eastwood impression... although less for the searing heat, dust and sunshine... more for the howling wind and icy rain.
Thankfully, I came prepared.
DAY THREE

I'd gone away to try and clear my head, sort some thoughts out; so it was time for a little solitude, so I hired a boat and sat for a little while in the lake. This was less enlightening than I had hoped for, just chilly really.
So the evening was spent watching the ferries.
And eating a proper supper.
And that was it! Not particularly useful in helping me sort out the stinking mess I've made of my life recently, but a pleasant couple of days away nonetheless.
I shall endeavour to do this more often.
