I saw Shogun Assassin before I managed to get hold of all the seperate films, I spent a while tracking them down through ebay and magazine ads. Then the bummer: Kill Bill comes out, everyone gets interested in the influences in it and the bastards release them all on dvd. Gits Still, the quality is better on dvd, just my timing was well off.

but of course, there are so many more facets than just the media making us all feel gross and fat and unattractive... it's kinda like the chicken and the egg thing. because the fact of the matter is, the skinny-skinny is what sells. the public BUYS it. so if they didn't buy it and no one could make money off it... it wouldn't be such a big deal. right? so what came first? i do think corporate america [et al] has much to do with this mess, BUT i also think it's a big mistake to put all the blame on the media and the money-makers. i think society and cultuer in general has evolved to the place we're in for a reason... and i am really interested in doing research to find out just how we got here. if you're super interested, pick up caroline knapp's book appetites, it's in the sociology section at the book store, specifically in the women's soc i think. it's seriously the most AMAZING book i've EVER read. a bit wordy at times, but holy shit. that woman. so right on.

i think the problem with things the way they are now... is that people, in general, aren't looking at the right qualities. i mean... it's not the QUANTITLY that matters... it's QUALITY. i swear... the more and more people try to boil others down to a dress size or a weight or a GPA or a sum in a bank account, the more and more of the essential human spirit is just LOST. and that is just... bullshit. but that's what seems to be taught these days. you know?

you know, no one ever tells you that there is a LARGE chance you won't find some wonderful job upon graduating from college. my degree in a BS in dietetics. no not dyanetcs. DIETetics... like nutrition [sorry, i always get asked that, people think they're funny... so yeah...]. i have a couple interviews on tuesday... for jobs that won't pay over $10 an hour.... i'm so going to die...
