Well, I'm the travelling pig once again. I had my two days in Falmouth. I stayed in the smallest hotel room in the world. In fact, I was so overwhelmed at how undersized it was (Or should that be underwhelmed? whatever ) That I took a picture, because that's how exciting my stay was.

In order to put a sense of perspective into it, I placed my work boot on the bed.

And in posting this image, it shows just how middle aged I'm becoming. I swear that I'm only one step away from doing things like writing letters denouncing the youth of today to the local paper. I'm finding that listening to gardener's question time on radio 4 to be quite a pleasurable experience, I look forward to the John Humphreys political interview at ten past eight every morning on the today programme. (Though granted, that is for slightly different reasons, anyone who's ever heard Humphreys interviewing technique will know what I mean). I want a smoking jacket and a room I can call 'The Library'. My musical tastes have calmed down to the point that I'm really starting to wonder about myself.

So I decided that I should do something different this weekend than just getting stoned and spending hours staring at a monitor listening to 101 soporific underground classics. So I went to a gig a mate told me about. A local 'noisecore' band were doing a free gig in a bookshop. When I heard about it, I figured, yeah, why not? It was a pretty good gig too, a bit bloody odd though. It was bring your own beer, naturally. But on being ushered in through the doors, there quickly followed about 20 or 30 people milling around uneasily in what can only be called a very small space. Which kind of led to everyone browsing, so my friends and I were pretty much pushed into the corner cotaining the politics and biography sections. so we had a flick through Mein Kampf, some of Lenin's collected writings, and the biographys of Roy Keane and Frankie Detorie. Before heading down to the cellar - which was comprised of 2 rooms, one of them functioning as the stack, and another one which was so small that the four piece band barely had enough room to set up. I did find a rather good copy of 'Warlord', an annual of little comics set around various soldiers in the second world war, theres' quite a lot of 'sticking it to the damned Jerrys' and the like in it. But I didn't get it. I may have to go back for it. So yeah, I digress. the band were really good, still no idea what they were actually called. But I did get an invite to go and See Brant Bjork when he comes to town, which should be immense.

Then out drinking heavily last night. Of which I have found out a couple of things. The first is that you really need to give considerable thought to what you should have as a mixer. For example, if confronted with a glass of Vodka, coconut rum and milk the last thing you want to do is add some chocolate Crusha to it. No, no no. I mean it... No. The other thing is that the vodka shot glasses we have are not supposed to be filled to the top, in fact a double measure only fills half of the glass, this should be considered even more heavily when you're drinking a bottle of vodka that someone left behind after a pirate event, we now know why they left it.

So, off to do an overnight in Bristol tomorrow. Working in B&Q's new 'concept' store, which means no one will know where anything is, or where it goes. Fantastic.

So anyway. I'm off to get a mug of horlicks before putting my slippers on, puffing on my pipe and listening to the wireless. wink

No, we had those insurmountable odds on the way back form Liverpool in January. I think I'll take the car, just drive slowly and hopefully miss all the M25 traffic. I'll enjoy the restive sounds of planes landing

That is the smallest bed, I have seen since I stayed in a B&B when I move up here. I swear you can't buy beds that small these days.

B&Q have 'concept' stores? confused

Hmmm I just don't know whether that would work. I wouldn't get paid and work would just pile up without me. I think I just have to suck it up.
