Just recently I have purchased tickets to several upcoming concerts. Tickets for Rancid/Rise Against, The Mayhem Festival (Headlined by Marilyn Manson, Slayer and Killswitch) and The Warped Tour; are all covered by Live Nation.
I have always been aware of the added costs and ridiculous fees and taxes involved with buying concert tickets, however; today, as I was reading through my confirmation e-mail I was hit with some brand new fees. Before I jump into the new brand bull shit, let's go back in time.
When I was in high school, my friends and I would physically go to a Ticketmaster location to purchase tickets to whatever show we were going to. The reward for driving out to a remote locale was being slapped in the face with a "convenience" fee that was usually in the neighborhood of fifteen dollars. If you were a poor soul that could not make it to the conveniently hidden lair of the Master of Tickets you would be punched in the mouth with a convenience fee and a door fee the day of the show. In an attempt to avoid the inconvenience of a convenience fee I buy my tickets online.
Today, I was reading over my confirmation and this is what I see:

That shit is crazy. What is that Twenty five cent charity that I just donated to?
What the fuck is up with a nine dollar ticket fee? I just bought the fucking ticket for eighteen fifty.
What the hell is a Venue Fee? How in shit would I go to see the show if I wasn't going to go to the venue where the performance is taking place. Perhaps a better question would be: If I don't pay the venue fee, can I have the show at another location of my choosing?
Finally, a ticket tax!? Are you out of your fucking skull? I just paid a fee for the god damn ticket, now there is a tax on that too?
Take a look at the last section of the costs list. I just bought one ticket for the price of two. Insulting as it is to have to pay taxes and fees that are almost equal to the cost of the ticket itself but I just got RAILED for paying Thirty four dollars to sit on the lawn far as fuck from seeing anything on stage anyway.
In conclusion, I would like to close in saying, "Fuck You, Live Nation. Fuck You, Ticketmaster."
