I love Fridays. 
Tonight is the last night of my class...I go on a two week vacation now until my next class starts...
I'm gonna miss my anime/Japanese history class. Gave me something to do every night, and got to see some rare anime. Gave me a shitload of inspiration for my own work as well. I've been drawing a new scene almost every day, and it's more closely tied in with Japan's history.
Anime can't really teach you about Japanese history, but Japanese history can teach you a lot about anime. So much more stuff makes sense now when I watch even some of my favorite anime that I've watched countless times before.
I guess I don't feel as much as a poser as I did before. I think maybe in a couple years I'm going to transfer to a real art school, get a big fatty degree in animation, and own my own animation studio. Or at least be a prestigious animation artist at a rather well-known company.
You will all be watching my animated spectacles someday. You just wait and see.
Someday, you will go to my movies, and say, "Hey, I used to know a girl named Tara (my last name), I wonder if it's the same girl?" And then you will see a personification of yourself in the movie, and you will then know, without a doubt, that it is indeed the same Tara.
My dream? To make a movie that includes characters from my life, people that I know, that I've had experiences with. I think the most prominent characters will be my best friend Joe, (whom I've known since I was three), my mother, my dad the loud and boisterous drunken ex-marine, and other people who have had a profound affect on my life. I don't think the main character will be me...'cause I dunno, seems kinda selfish to me. Maybe someone else's perspective on me. Hmm...
Anyway, I want it to have tons of American culture influencing it, and I want it to be the opposite of anime in a way...Where it starts here in English, goes to Japan, and they're so fascinated by a sort of copy of their style but something that's most definitely not from their culture, they translate into Japanese and it becomes a big hit there.
Japanese don't mind it when people borrow their ideas, they actually think it's a big compliment. I think the biggest compliment I can give to a culture that has influenced me, fascinated me, and gave me a dream is to do my dream.
I can do it. And to all of you nay-sayers: *covers her ears* I'm not listening!
