Today I sat in the park by the grocery store and watched the pigeons shuffle back and forth, looking for crumbs and looking ill. I used to think that nothing could or should live in cities. It was a phase and happily I outgrew it. I am an urban sort and need the presence of other people and the things thay make and destroy to keep me sane. Even if I don't say a word to them, I need to know they're there, "building, breaking and rebuilding."
