i went to a poetry reading the other night. too many people yell instead of being sincere. unless every line you write ends with an exclamation point, i really don't think it's necessary.
and also, people should be sincere, instead of pretending that there is feeling behind what they wrote and then just sounding completely ingenuous.
there was one guy that read that was absolutely hilarious. he was one of the wittiest writers i've heard in a while. i wish i could remember his name.
i guess i enjoyed reading again, since it was the first time i have done so in like 5 years, but there was so much that was obnoxious about the whole situation that i don't think i can really say i had a good time.

i just got back from work and i am incredibly filthy. there was some kind of red dust on a box that got all the fuck over me. it is not my friend. and there's blue ink on my arms which is very mysterious. it is kind of neat though, when i first stand under the water in the shower, watching the pool of grey spreading out around my feet.
