Yeah, so...a couple of weeks ago The Mighty Mighty MJ and I went on vacation. I take a twisted pleasure in the fact that even though we don't have any kids we chose the week of fall break. That is a different posting for another time. The MMMJ had a blitzkrieg of appointments set for the first part of the week. Five appointments in 2.5 days. The real reason we picked the week we did is because really we didn't pick it. I know...wut? The main reason we went was for the War Eagle Mill Craft Fair. Imagine an awesome farmer's market - take the size times 20 - now add a working mill - add a restaurant called The Bean Palace. Bang! You are there. This event happens twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. That's right, this is so big that once a year won't do it. Really if you took the animals out of the equation at a state fair this is kinda what you would have. We got there a little after 8am. Hey, don't laugh, things get started at 6:30am. Not really sure how late things go on but they do it for four days and people come from all over the lower 48. We booked months in advance (back in July) so that we could be there that week. We drove over to Eureka Springs on Wednesday afternoon. There was no 2 bedroom places left so we got a three bedroom house and invited her parents to come with. They hardly ever really go somewhere and do something outside of the normal homestead project.
Wednesday we went straight to the house and looked it over. The driveway was crazy inclined the civic's little 4 banger roared up the hill. After inspecting what would be home until Sunday we went to the local grocery store and got some supplies. Thursday we hit it early and drove over to Fayetteville's farmer's market. Some fresh green tomatoes for frying, honey crisp apples, sugar snaps, and a half a dozen sunflowers for a centerpiece. The Boss (that is mother in law to you) is really into pottery so we hit a shop that sold clay and glazes and that is all the pottery knowledge I have. Friday we hit the craft fair. We figured the first day all the booths might not be up yet and the weekend would be too crowded. We escaped about noon and the line of cars coming in went all the way to the highway (about six miles). When we got back to Eureka Springs we went to a winery. We also got some fudge. MMMMmm, white wine and fudge. Saturday we slept in a bit and jumped the trolley. We walked the streets and went to an artist colony. Sunday was the trip back. I really think her folks were surprised at how much they enjoyed themselves. I could be wrong but it seemed like they went in with lowered expectations. Sunday we got back into town and just was lazy. We did much couch sitting and DVR watching and not much else.
Movie time! I watched Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River yesterday. Spoiler alert! I so would have left the girl with Morgan Freeman. Heck, I would not have even drove out to the guy's house. And for further proof that my scruples are tainted I would have stabbed Tim Robbins too. Now, on with the questions.

Comfort

1. When you're seeking comfort in your life, what do you look for?
Roomy shorts? Soft cotton fabrics? Comfortable shoes?
2. Do you have comfort foods? What are they? Can you make them yourself or does someone else have to make them?
Oh yeah. Orange sherbet, grill cheese sammich, pimento cheese on Ritz crackers, Mike's Hard Lemonade. I would rather someone make the sammich for me.
3. How do you comfort other people?
Depends on who it is. Some of them want to be lied to. Some of them just want to hear 'It will be okay.'
4. Is it easy for you to meet your comfort needs or get them met?
Yeah, although I am trying to change them. Exchange my crutches that involve food and trade up for some healthier ones.
5. What's one thing you'd like people around you to know when you look to them for comfort?
Just keep a sense of humor and nobody gets hurt.

When did you last...

1. scrounge for change (couch, ashtray, etc) to make a purchase?
about 11:45 today to get something from the Coke machine. Any loose change we have or find we put in a tray at work. It is like the give a penny take a penny set up on a larger scale.
2. visit a dentist?
I went in 2003? Not sure about that. They billed the wrong insurance company and I had to fight with the insurance, the dentist, and it looked like I might even have to fight a collections company at the end.
3. make a needed change to your life?
This is the season of change in my life. I am changing my diet, how I spend my free time, changing my day to day routines, my level of education. The constants in my life are my family and my wife.
4. decide on a complete menu well in advance of the evening meal?
I do that with MMMJ every weekend. We have two sections of the shopping list: Staples is one and ingredients for the meals we have planned for the week.
5. spend part of the day (other than daily hygiene) totally/mostly naked?
I choose not to disclose the information needed for this.
