This first part was done on Monday. I finished this up today. So, yeah, okay then. Yesterday was Steak & Cake Day. Happy belated Steak & Cake Day everybody! Let me explain: Steak & Cake Day is an invention of my sister. Aug. 10th was my Dad's birthday and all we really ever did as kids for his birthday was make him cook outside at the grill and have some cake. Boom! Drums please! - Steak & Cake Day. We started the day off with Pineapple Express, a good movie. Quite a bit more action than I was expecting. Next we went to do the shopping for the week at the Super Target. Very entertaining. Why? Because people were acting just bonkers. It had awesomesauce drizzled on the whole shopping experience. There are always people that you see on every aisle that seem to be racing to get to the checkout before you. Well, we had three that seemed to pop up at every turn. Then there was a family of three that fanned out separately so much I didn't even know they were together until they got to the checkouts. The mother just basically walked around in a daze and got in people's way. Blocked an entire aisle with her boney ass at one point it was amazing. Father and daughter each had their own carts and seemed to be on a mission from some deity. Another woman with a small child almost rolled her eyes by the third or fourth time our paths crossed. The third cart was just seemingly trying to get thru the experience. Not as much fun by comparison. Then after a couple of episodes of Weeds (good show by the by) it was off to Logan's for Steak. The rest of the day was more Weeds episodes, some Olympics, Cake, and walking the Rufus while rocking MIA from my celly like I am all kewl. I am a dork and I approve this message.

When is your birthday? (Be as specific or as vague as you like.)
Every year
How do you feel about it being the day or time of year that it is? How did you feel about it when you were a child?
Hate it when it falls on Easter. Nobody can compete with Jesus for attention. The same.
What do you usually do to celebrate your birthday, if anything? Why?
Next year and this year I will celebrate for a whole week most of which will be in Las Vegas. Why the two years in a row? The first one didn't go like I wanted. I nearly died. So, rewind and redo.
Describe your ideal birthday celebration, within reason (i.e., no breaking the laws of physics or plausibility).
I would do Hawaii, watch the sunrise from atop a volcano, and ride a bike down to the hotel, a massage on the beach, later on that day go paragliding, that night go skinny dipping in the ocean.
Describe your ideal birthday celebration, without reason (i.e., break whatever laws you feel like).
See above switch Hawaii with Cuba and swap the volcano bike ride at sunrise with a sunset cigar and brandy.

List 5 things that are basic common knowledge in your culture, which people outside are unfamiliar with. This is not about obscurity, but something everyday to you, that others go "bzuh?" at.
Well, first I would have to decide what my culture is. So, yeah, is southern, part native, mostly Scottish, fat, small town raised, capitalist taught, geek a culture in and of itself? I guess if I am my own culture then what would be common knowledge would be things my friends know. 1. Martha Stewart is fabulous and we watch her show often and read each issue of the magazine. 2. We avoid Wal-Mart. You are part of the problem if you go there and give them money. Stop being part of the problem. 3. If it is late at night, we will walk the dog missing a major item of clothing (pants). 4. We try to go to the earliest Sunday showing of a movie. Nobody is out and about thinking 'Hey, I need popcorn and two hours gone from my life' but us. The one time this didn't hold true was The Dark Knight. Aside from that it is a solid plan. 5. Our guys paint their toenails. What? We aren't allowed to be pretty?
What was the last book you read that was written by a person who is a different race than you? Do you seek out books written by people of other races? Why? Why not?
The Watchmen (Alan Moore is a Brit). I really like the Brits' authors: JK Rowling, Douglas Adams. I sought out the Autobiography of Malcolm X. It was an eye opener. Islam has views of women I do not agree with. It is good to get a glimpse of the world from another perspective.
What did you eat at dinner last night? Would you call it ethnic food? Why?
Has your gender presentation changed over the last 5 years? Has this change/lack of change been a deliberate choice on your part?
I didn't. I snacked around instead of having a full meal. Food I cannot get from my own or neighboring zip codes. You don't need a passport to have ethnic food.
Do you discuss race and racism in your blog or in person? Why have you made that choice?
Not that much. I never thought of myself as white although most that meet me would label me as that. Plus, I personally feel that race is the third thing you never talk about in public. You know: 'Never discuss religion or politics' I think race should be added to the list.
Bonus question: Were you aware of International Blog Against Racism Week? Did you choose to participate in it? Why or why not?
I had no idea. No thanks. See above.

Smells, and memories. Do you have a scent that when you smell it, brings up a memory? Do share.
When I smell a certain mix of second hand smoke (mostly Marlboros) I think of the football games at Collinsville's Sallee Field. When I smell a deep fried smell (think funnel cakes) I think of the Tulsa State Fair. The smell of pizza usually triggers the days and nights I spent at Mazzio's. Sad to say it but the smell of livestock (okay cow paddies & horse crap) sends me to the concession stand my 4-H club ran at the tri-county fairgrounds. The tri-county fair is no more. Not sure what happened there. Maybe as I was getting too old to be interested the organizers got too old to bother with putting it together.
Songs. Is there a particular song that brings back happy memories? Song title and memory, if you care to share that much.
So many to choose fromQuiet Riot's Cum On Feel the Noize reminds me of Johnnie G's birthday party at the city pool. Someone brought a boom box (if you don't know what a boom box is you are too young to read this) and he got the tape as a gift. As soon as the wrapping was off he started playing it and we took turns on the high dive with the volume at 11, okay maybe 7 but we were too cool in that most excellent moment. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' I Love Rock 'n Roll reminds me of childhood in pre-school days when I would do my best to occupy myself until my sisters got back home from school; including making my Star Wars action figures dance to this song. Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Charlie Daniels Band, Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee 'the Killer' Lewis all remind me of Sunday mornings with the family. Sister Christian by Night Ranger reminds me of thinking that my sister Darcy had completely lost her mind. Little did I know at the time she was merely being a teenager. Toadies' Possum Kingdom recalls the first concert I went to with the sugarmama. The whole TLC album CrazySexyCool reminds me of Mazzio's and falling in love with MJ. I was twitterpatted in about three months and have been over the moon ever since. Hold ondoes anyone have a hanky? Faith Hill's Breathe reminds me of our wedding. Macy Gray's first album On How Life Is reminds me of our honeymoon. Strangely enough there are two songs on that album that I want played at my funeral. I decided that on our honeymoon. First play 'The Letter' and then 'I Can't Wait to Meetchu', if you have not heard these go to you tube or whatever and listen to them in that order right now. Go on, I will wait, here

Macy Gray in Las Vegas

see? That just makes me feel mortal but gives me peace at the same time. Good stuff. Too bad Macy jumped so far into a chronic cloud that see isn't firing on all cylinders anymore.
How about a song that brings up painful memories?
Song title and memory, if you care to share that much.
Not sure why but Johnny Cash's later cover songs remind me of my Dad and makes me ball like a little bitch.

Johnny Cash hurt video.
Food. Is there a certain food that conjures up memories?
Stuffing seems to fall into the same category as meatloaf. Random. What? What I mean is with both stuffing and meatloaf people like the way their mamma cooks it and don't much care for any other kind. My Mom used to give my Dad a bowl of the stuffing before she put it in the oven. Now I don't want her to ever make stuffing ever again. Without the 'Art mark of approval' it will never be the same. White wine makes me think of Grandmother Scruggs. Honey makes me think of Grandma Shorty. Cherry pie is Grandpa Tom. Hush puppies (the real kind with corn kernels) remind me of Grandpa Carl.
Clothing? Do you have an item of clothing or if you see a certain item, does it make you think of a time/place or person?
Ribbon shirts remind me of going to pow wows with Grandma Shorty & Grandpa Tom.
