May 3rd was National Day of Prayer

1. Do you pray? Why or why not? (If it's no feel free to skip 2, 3, and 4.) Yes. I believe in a higher power.

2. To which deities, entities, or forces do you pray? The Great Spirit

3. When do you pray (e.g. at set times, when in fear, when thankful)? When thankful and when concerned for others.

4. How do you pray? With gestures? With words? Out loud or in your head? Usually in bed. With words. Both out loud and in my head.

5. How do you feel about the idea of a national or international day of prayer? As long as there are national days for other daily mundane things then no worries. Is there a national breathing day? How about a national urination day? Anyone go for that? I believe in separation of government and beliefs.

My life would not be the same without this...

1. song/movie/book: Nine Inch Nails' maxi single of Head Like a Hole made me question everything I knew of music. It was like being given new ears./ Fight Club, Pump Up the Volume, and the Lost Boys were each the perfect movies for their time./ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was the book I needed the most at the time I read it. Life was really just a downer. I read the six books in the series while reading the first four books of Harry Potter. I will forever be in debt to British creativity.

2. person: There are so many, Jeff Juby in one weekend introduced me to: Nine Inch Nails, Digital Underground, Dread Zepplin, They Might Be Giants, the Cure, Depeche Mode, A Clockwork Orange, and Heavy Metal. Mom & Dad introduced me to Chuck Berry, Elvis, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, Jerry Lee Lewis, really all of my music foundation came from their late 50s early 60s influenced taste. They taught me love of art both painted and sculpted. Love of music. They taught disdain of ordinary. "Average is a C. Do you really want a C when it comes time to grade your life?" My humor may be a little crude, I am a bigger fan of Mel Brooks than Woody Allen. I wouldn't have it any other way. My sister Tara instilled a love of the Chevy short wide, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and gave an introduction to Prince. My sister Darcy taught me that appearance isn't everything, what others think of me doesn't matter as much as what I think of me. She taught me how to hug, trust, and tell people how I feel. Grandpa Tom taught me spirituality. Grandma Shorty taught me intimidation. Grandma Scruggs put me through finishing school, Grandpa Carl taught me patience. Aunt Suzy taught me about change. Amy Juby taught me about longing. Jim Prock taught me about friendship. Brian Newman taught me about man law. Mike Coshatt taught me how to live in the moment. My wife taught me how to love.

3. place: No matter where I go Home will always be 50 acres cradled by the Caney River Northwest of Collinsville, OK.

4. event: For the five years from ages 13 - 17 I went to Stillwater and spent a few days in the dorms at OSU just after Memorial Day. It was round-up for 4-H. Kids from all over the state in those age groups went to classes and workshops, we also went to Hideaway and Eskimo Joe's. (shh don't tell the adults). It was the perfect start of summer.

5. self indulgence: food. I loves it. Too much. High blood pressure and too much belly is starting to take a toll on my life.
