Okie so i need some advice. I have been working at this restaurant since i graduated back in august. When i came on staff they were ordering all their pastries from elsewhere and paying out the ass for. Since coming on i have been doing the pastries in-house (in addition to doing all the garde manger and hot app work). By my doing the pastries instead of the place ordering them i am able to put out higher quality desserts at a much lower price to them. (i have increased their profit margin on desserts by 75%). anyway i think i deserve a raise for this, but my problem is this. They are wanting to give me a chef position in march, which would come with a substantial raise, but none of this is in stone. So what i am wondering is should i ask for a raise now or just wait and see what happens?

hmmm what to do today?
I think that it wouldn't hurt to ask for a raise, since the promotion isn't a sure thing and you have been doing more work. The worst thing that can happen is that they'll say "no" to the raise. You'll also gain some insight into how serious they are about the exec. chef position.
