I work for an Insurance company and as I'm sure you're all well aware of by now, the state of Queensland got fucked over after Cyclone Tasha crossed the coast on Christmas Day.
Floods, floods, flash-floods, and more floods.
The flooding in Brisbane last month was set to break new records and surpass the 1974 flood (which was the aftermath of Cyclone Wanda). Thankfully, the river didn't peak as high this time, but there are a lot more people living in our beautiful city today, then there was back in 1974.
People are just finding their feet, and attempting to make sense of this all and Cyclone Anthony says hello to Queensland, and in the next day or two we're set to experience the destruction that is Cyclone Yasi.
It's not that our State isn't used to Cyclones, hail storms, or torrential rain - it's just a lot of devastation to take on in one storm season!
The media are comparing Cyclone Yasi with the likes of Cyclone Tracy and Cyclone Larry - both absolutely decimating the towns they struck. Go to Google and do an image search on those two Cyclones.

Quite the comparison.
Now I've been off work almost a week, and I'm finally starting to feel a little better. The nasty cough I have seems to want to stick around, but I've gotta get back to work.. and honestly, it's not looking like a lot of fun!
