Friday night was awesome! Rook and I went to the Birds of Tokyo concert, with supporting act - Silversun Pickups.
I'd heard of the Silversun Pickups before.. but honestly, what person on SG couldn't have heard of them? They appear to be very well loved by the folks at SGHQ.
I was running a little late getting to the concert and I thought "meh, I don't mind if I miss Silversun Pickups.. I don't know any of their songs anyway".. I'm really glad I did get to catch them though. The drummer is absolutely incredible. So hypnotic to watch. I barely watched another member of the band the whole time. Amazing!
Birds of Tokyo were off the hook. I absolutely loved the intimacy of the set up, and the involvement with the crowd. I walked away from the show feeling completely satisfied!
Saturday and Sunday were busy but chilled. I'm kind of excited that the AFL grand final was a tie, cuz now they have to battle it out all over again next weekend!
The NRL grand final is next weekend too.. and so is Trash Fest! You guys might remember my requests for you to vote for me in the Miss Alternative pageant - well Trash Fest is hosting the Queensland Heats of the Miss Alternative Pageant.
There's going to be market stalls, bands, prizes.. and of course the pageant. It's going to be an intense weekend. If you brissy and coast folk want some further information regarding Trash Fest, hit me up or pop over to SGAU.
I also got to meet my god daughter on the weekend. She's two weeks old now, and as beautiful as can be.
Sadly, while all this fun, positive stuff is going on right now, I find myself laying here today feeling completely and utterly depressed.
Maybe it's because my job has been rather painful since becoming a permanent full time employee, or that it's ever so unlikely I won't make it back to the US this year. I liked my annual visits and spending my birthday with my American friends.
I also miss doomedbyproxy a lot. I'm impatient. I don't want to wait until next year to visit.

I've seen SP with Muse in Montreal last march. That was an awesome show!! I consider that SP is my heartbeat of 2008.
