i had an awesome end to last week, and a great weekend. on thursday morning i picked up my eldest daughter, who has recently turned 5. we hung around the shops, and i bought her some cool stuff, like a disney princess football that she wanted, and a disney princess jigsaw puzzle which i felt could be quite challenging for her. we played with some other toys for a while before heading on over to krispy kreme for the single most delicious doughnuts i've ever eaten! mmmmmm, so tasty. needless to say she loved them too tongue then we hit the cinema to watch 'the princess and the frog' (she likes princesses!), which was possibly the first proper disney movie i've ever sat all the way through (not including pixar stuff here, just classic disney animation). it was actually pretty enjoyable, and the new orleans setting made me want to make gumbo for dinner. i didn't.

after the cinema we did a bit of food shopping and then headed home. we played football for a bit before i prepped dinner. fajitas are awesome, and she loves when i make them smile she did some drawing (with the disney princess drawing kit i bought her for her birthday!) until dinner was ready. after dinner we chilled for a while watching hannah montana (not my choice).

the next morning we went to my mum's house so she could see her, and we used this awesome goo stuff i got her. it's basically this weird powder stuff that you pour into water and it makes the water turn into goo. pretty awesome. she messed around with that for a while, and when she was finished i dissolved it back into water (technology these days eh!). we headed home where i again prepped dinner, this time a chicken jhalfrezi which she'd never tried before. she did her jigsaw whilst i did some dishes first of all. it didn't prove to be as challenging as i thought tongue so she played with the billions of tubs of playdoh i bought her at christmas whilst i finished the dishes (there were lots due to general laziness the day before). after the dishes were done she came to help me make the curry, and to sample the red & green peppers. needless to say she wasn't as big a fan of raw ginger tongue

after the cooking she sat and ate all of the curry, including some chips i made, and 2 poppadoms with some mango chutney, but decided she fancied pancakes. i whipped up two rather delicious pancakes for her, with melted chocolate buttons in the middle. after some more relaxing we played some more football and other ball related games, before drawing a few pictures.

on saturday i took her back to her mum so they could go home. i swear it never gets any easier to let her go. the house doesn't feel the same without her immediately afterwards. let this be a warning for all: if you plan on having kids, make sure you're CERTAIN you will spend the rest of your life with that person. i'm still hoping that when her mum finishes uni they'll move back here. 150 miles away is tough.

anyway, after the sadness of saying goodbye, i hung with the gf. we hit krispy kreme for some doughnuts (new obsession), and then just chilled around the shopping centre, buying a few things that were necessary. we then picked up a bit of food to take home, followed by 16 bottles of beer. once home we whipped up some simple food, kicked back and watched movies with some ice cold beers. 14 of the 16 bottles were gone that night, the other 2 i had for lunch the next day tongue

sunday was a day for nothing but relaxation. i cooked minted lamb chops, roast potatoes, carrots, peas & sweetcorn with gravy. very tasty. in the evening i baked some cheese straws. traditional cheese straws, like my mum used to make, not like the crap you can buy in the supermarket.

all in all, good times were had, bar the sadness of seeing my daughter go home, made even worse by her putting on her sad voice on the friday and saying 'i don't want to leave you'. brings a lump to your throat!

peace.
