Here comes the rain again...

So the rain stared somewhere around 3 o'clock here in the southern Bay Area of Cali and pretty much hasn't stopped since.

It's lovely.

How many cultures in our world are driven by rain? Both lack of it or an abundance of it set off a cascade of effects with reprecussions effecting hundreds of millions of people. There are more spirits and dieties associated in one way or another with weather/rain than any other phenomena save fertility {and arguably the Sun}.

You ever see
Bambi? In the original storyboards, ole Walt wanted the raindrops themselves to sing a joyful song about, well, about being rain. About being happy that they were getting to serve their purpose by bringing water to the forrest. Eventually they went with that "Drip, drip, drop, little April showers" song - which I don't like as well, but the animation in that sequence is still some of my all time favorite hand-drawn cells. Disney had some real artists back then. wink

I used to live by the ocean at one point to on Sumner St. I remember how good and bad the ocean would/could smell. I miss riding my bike down to the harbor. Then I lived on Emeline and let me tell you I DON"T miss all the fucked up bums that walked up and down that street. I remember one time coming home and a woman asking us for a quater cause she just killed someone and need to make a phone call. Uck. I love it up here so much better no more homeless freaks all over.

Ahh yes I remember how wonderful downtown SC used to be before the quake. I remember the lights at Xmas time down there and all the shops. IT never was or will be the same since the quake. I still miss it though.

I miss the tree-lined "cavern" that Pacific used to look like.
