So there was some gongshowing involved with attempted shenanigans tonight. It was... interesting. To say the least.
So me and Decibel got all ready to go kick it at the shenanigans of which we were told. At about the last possible moment I figured I would check to make sure that they were, in fact, to be taking place where I thought they were, as I am kind of dumb and forget things regularly. It was a good thing I did so, as there was a venue change I was not informed of. Didn't end up mattering, but oh well, I'll get to that.
So off we went, arriving at the fashionably late hour of about 11:00. Then we couldn't find anyone. Decibel doesn't know any of you dudes or ladies yet anyway, and I saw any of you all of once about two months ago, so chances are pretty good I walked right past everyone at least twice. Unless you weren't there, which is also possible. I don't know; I didn't recognize anyone anyway.
So instead we stood around for a while and drank overpriced booze, and times were weird. Some random lady walked by repeatedly and rubbed and licked my head. Then she bit my nipple hard enough that I still have teeth impressions from it, keeping in mind that I am writing this about five hours after the fact. It kind of hurt. Then, bored and half deafened, we walked about ten klicks back to my house and played video games instead. Good times, if distinctly lacking in the presence of any of the SG crew. Such is the way of it, I suppose.
It kind of serves to remind me of why I rarely go to bars. I enjoy partaking in rampant alcoholism as much as the next dude, though there are problems inherent in barhopping. For one, conversational material that interests me is generally several orders of magnitude different from that which is of interest to others. Most of the things I have to say are technology related, and often uninteresting to people who do not share my possibly unhealthy interest in such. I am also a giant nerd, and that tends to show. Sure, there's always the base of small talk that humans do when they have nothing to say to each other and want to fill a silence, but I'm really not any good at that. Sucks.
My overall distaste for humans in general does not help much either. I genuinely like machines better than I tend to like most people; machines make a lot more sense. They don't lie to me. They don't feel threatened by the fact that I am a reasonably intelligent person. They don't get emotional, or lash out at random. They don't get offended, or take things personally. When they make a mistake, it's because I fucked it up, not because the machine is incompetent or spiteful. Okay, I am excessively bitter. I was going to go somewhere with that too, but as usual, I got sidetracked and I forget what I was going to say now. Oh well.
But yeah, sorry for not showing up, if my absence was noted. Sorry anyway if I wasn't missed, but less so since I wasn't expected anyway. At least I tried, eh?
