So.... what a wierd and wonderful weekend. There are a lot of w's in that sentence... it's probably difficult to say out loud. Glad I'm typing this, instead of talking to you, aren't you?
Anyway... my own stupidity aside...
I went around town yesterday... shopping for stuff. First, I hit the bookstore, hopefully to find a book about working on and fixing my car. The only one I found was the updated version of one I already have... and nothing on my car had been updated. I almost bought the book anyway, merely because the one I have is missing a few pages, and is kind of falling apart. But I didn't.
So... I left... and decided that I had to at least try hitting the Half Price Books right by where I was... and I found the book! For seven dollars! SCORE! I was excited. I also found the Chilton guide for it, for 6. Stoked I tell you, like a fire.
So, next stop? Shuck's (auto parts store). I pull in and go looking around for the part I need... because I really don't know what I'm doing. Well, I'm looking around for about three seconds when a guy says "So how long have you had that '74?"
I stammered a bit, because when people can just look at a car and figure out the year... it throws me off. That kind of knowledge astounds me. So... we talked a bit. Turns out he has 5 bugs in his yard at the moment, two he's working on for friends... two of his own, and one beater that's a parts bitch. At any rate, he invited me over to his place to show me his bugs, and I asked him about my engine. He showed me what I needed... and then we headed back to his place.
He shows me his cars, as well as his house (which he's rebuilding himself). And then... he fixes me car. Basically, he's showing me what I need to do... but he does it all. Very nicely. Then he invites me out to a barbecue that a bunch of other VW guys are going to be at.
After that... I went up to an acoustic show in Seattle... that was a lot of fun. Ira, lead singer of Common Heroes, is an amazing singer, and I really enjoyed his set. Plus, he ended it with a cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World" (recently covered for the movie Donnie Darko)... all in all, it was a great show. After that, several friends of mine and I hung out... including a 10:30pm stint on a merry-go-round. Yay!
Today, I went to that barbecue... had an awesome time! Met a bunch of people who's names I will never, ever remember. But, more importantly... I bought the higne I need for my hood, and a really decent set of panelling for the interior... black... matching the outside... NICE!!! All for $15. I'm loving this.
Now I'm home... and I'm content. Oh, I also watched Saw (awesome, highly recommend) and Alien vs. Predator (pretty good, I was entertained). And I still have a few hours of weekend left!
Now... if I could have only fit sex in there somewhere... it would have been a perfect weekend.

(Oh, and thank you for all who commented on my last poem... I really do appreciate it. If I don't post something on your page... it's probably because there are a lot of comments there... and I feel silly being comment number 122)
