And the hits just keep on coming...

I got up this morning and did my usual morning routine, then my daughter and I walked down to the parking garage to head out and that was when I noticed that someone had stolen the rear license plate of my car. I rushed her back upstairs and to the bus stop where she was able to thankfully catch a bus in time to make it to class. I then went back and called the police, who informed me that I had to show up in person to file a report, so I walked the 2km from my place to the police station. I got there and filled out a report, was asked every conceivable question about my car, had my driver's license checked and likely my record looked up (from what I could tell of the conversation) to see I suppose if I was likely to be lying or if I had any involvement in criminal activity that would have lead to someone stealing my plates. In the end, I got a little pink piece of paper to take to the Ministry of Transportation, walked the 2km back to my house to get my information, along with my remaining plate, and walked back over to the MTO office, where I filled out a new registration form and got new plates for my car. Thankfully, since they were reported stolen, the replacement cost was only $20 (as opposed to the $100 new plate + $75 sticker renewal fees). The new plates, I have bolted in place with rachet screws on the top and Robertson headed screws on the bottom. If someone wants to steal the plate again, it will take them some serious effort this time. I am seriously considering figuring out how to attach it to my car batter though so that if someone touches it they get zapped.

As an added bonus, because I didn't do the intelligent thing and change into my running shoes prior to my 4km speedwalk, I was wearing my work shoes and so I managed to get a blister on my left foot and aggrivate my right knee again. I messed it up originally playing hockey years ago and now it doesn't take too much to throw it off again. I managed to do something to it at my friend's wedding a few weeks ago and I could barely walk down stairs for 2 days. I'm back in that position again after walking too far, too fast without proper footware. So now I have a tensor bandage wrapped around my knee and a rather pronounced limp, but I finally made it to work just before noon.

I hope this week ends soon.
