Hey hey! That was fun - the urban75 bookgroup Xmas meal and the urban75 "Offline" party in Brixton.

So I overslept big time on Thursday till 6pm and suddenly woke and realised I was meant to be meeting people in the pub in London at 7pm! I ended up getting there at 8.30pm but they had just sat down to eat (Indian) so I wasn't late although I didn't get to sit next to my favourite people (Crispy, Brainaddict, Zora, Innit and PieEye). I was down the other end and although they are nice enough I actually found them a bit annoying (mentioning no names in case anyone actually reads this site!) and I know and like them less than the abovementioned.

I drank my way though a bottle of ros and had the lovely curry and nan, and then we had a book-choosing session - Alice Interrupted was the winner which narrowly beat Tom Robbinds latest as the January book. Should be so much better than some dreary politico-Pre-Soviet-worthy but dull tome that Pickman's Model keeps trying to foist on everyone.

To finish we had a "Secret Santa" where we all warpped up[ books and had a lucky dip. I got "This is your life" by John O'Farrell. Looks OK - easy reading for the Xmas period.

At about 10pm we all went to the Dogstar - a cool bar in Brixton where the guy who runs Urban75.com was putting on a his monthy "Offline".

There were DJs in the main bar doing a range of stuff from reagge to funk to techno with a bit of kitsche and rock and all sorts of stuff. It is all free, the DJs are all from the site and there were poets and operformaers in the chill-out room at the back. He also had some projections of the Brixton riots and some anti-capitalist demos in the middle section.

Someone took a photo of me (clue - the one with the short hair - just had it done on wednesday - grade 1):

The place was packed full of urban75 people which was great andf everyome was super fluffy and cool. The only downside was the bar was understaffed meaning long waits. I only ended up drinking coke anyway as I had to drive home later.

Afterwarrds at 2am a bunch of us went back to Kamerons - I met a couple of really cute and crazy women, one from Luton and one from LA, and everyone else was snorting MDMA. I don't dso any class As now but it was fun hanging out. At about 4am I gave SubZerocat and Flavour a lift back to Greenford (way out in West London) before getting home to Surrey at 6am. I stayed up till 7am to phone the gym to book pilates then went to sleep at 8am.

Up again 4 hours later! For today's pilates class, followed by tea and newspaper and a sauna.

I think it is kind of catching up with me now tho as I am pretty tired - eek! it is now Saturday (00.39). Hmm, am going to chill out this weekend.

The next party/expedition to London is planned for NYE - People's Republic of Disco. smile
