"Don't be like that.., Jenningstm"
The title of this post is the subject heading of an email I just recieved from one Maynard Snyder.
"Don't be like what," I thought. I mean, as far as I know, I've done Maynard Snyder no wrong. But on the off chance I had, I read his email and that's when my world blew wide open, like I had just opened that puzzle box from Hellraiser or seen "Donnie Darko" for the first time. Man! That film makes you think. It really makes you think.
Here's what I was greeted with:
"The reason I despise them and hate them is because of the lies and rubbish they propagate about Ireland and the out-and-out British-supporting propaganda that they put forward around the world," Fachtna says. "The idea of some major rock star going around the world with a white flag in his hand and singing 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and then saying, This is not a rebel song has some nerve, as far as I'm concerned, to exploit the pain and suffering of people in a part of ... whether it's his own country or anybody else's. That's the problem I have with them."
This is obviously a critique of U2's lead singer, Bono. Man! That band's music is poingant. Almost as poignant as Donny Darko. GOD DAMN THAT'S A POIGNANT MOVIE THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE ON SO MANY LEVELS!!!!
Oh, but the plot gets thicker. Just like the plot from Donny Darko is thick with a rich tapestry of meaning.
Obviously, I was involved in some sort of conspiracy much bigger than myself. Something involving me "Not being like that", master lyricist and totally justified political flag waver and cause haver Bono, and several nude girls who's pictures I found below the Bono bashing quote.
They were "hot", "ready for anything", "and totally wet"...FOR ME!!!! Atleast that's what it said. What?!!! NICE!
Apparently, they're all waiting FOR ME on moregirls.com. Waiting for me like a really cohesive and interesting story line is waiting for anyone who rents and or watches and or thinks about and or talks about Donny Darko.
Now, I don't know who Maynard Snyder is or why he's chosen to bring me in on his adventure, but he's right. I'm going to stop "Being like that." And by "That" I mean my habit of not taking the plunge and just going with whatever this crazy adventure is. Hot girls, Bono, Maynard, and me. Let's do this...do this like Donny Darko does it to viewing audiences with the message that it TOTALLY HAS about time travel and bearing the onus of guilt...but not realizing it........and plane crashes.................and that song Mad World.....which is also awesome.
