Another non-profit thinks they might want me to produce their "talent showcase" in Atlanta. We'll see how that goes i.e. what they want me to do and if they'll pay me. I really like working the non-profit circuit, I guess mostly because I hate the attitude and maneuvering it takes to work with the corporate sector.

Wrote an email to The Young Turks to maybe get them to profile the media crisis and change their view that the internet will save us all. It is as follows:

Hi TYT,

I'm a long time listener and a big fan of the show where I often hear criticism towards the press and general media. As a former print journalism major from the University of Georgia, I feel as if some of the critiques offered by the show are slightly biased in favor of internet journalism over print media. Understandably, there is a HUGE problem with print media at the moment due to their inability to gain funds through traditional means (i.e. advertisements and classified ads). As such, newspapers have been dropping correspondents and copy editors into the lake like bad fish. As a result, the quality of their reporting has suffered greatly. Many hope that in response the blogosphere as well as many other internet-based resources would take up the slack and offer the same local and national reportage via a different medium. This has only happened minimally, while most original news and research (somewhere in the range of 90-95%) still gets covered by traditional print media. I will restrain myself from marginalizing the import of this story by hacking through it myself and instead offer a few resources on the issue. I hope you might take up this topic on a later show as the fourth estate is absolutely necessary in the operation of a democracy. Listed below are a couple of podcasts as well as contact info for a former professor of mine (and a former editor of the associated press) which would provide excellent sources of knowledge for anything having to do with the media crisis.

http://www.onthemedia.org/ - a specialized NPR program detailing events specific to the media
Bob Edwards Weekend with Journalists John Nichols and Robert McChesney - A single podcast done by the Bob Edwards Weekend radio show which goes over some important details, statistics and ideas concerning the industry crisis
Conrad Fink - My former journalism professor, former associated press editor and expert on matters of the press. He is usually available for interviews.

I look forward to listening to future programs and hope you will consider my suggestion as a topic for future broadcast. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Sincerely,
Theodore O. Lawrence
Atlanta, GA

So that's that. I still feel like I'm going insane with crap lately. Owner's daughter stole from the drawers again a couple weeks ago. Almost got me fired but they know I'm not that dumb. That and she was witnessed taking money out of the drawer on multiple occasions. I hate that fucking meth-faced bitch. She's still not fired. Or disowned. Working on my business. Working on court. Might have a web site up in a couple weeks. Start doing video movie reviews. Anyway, that's that.

Fuckity bye.
