Well Donkey-punk Christ!

I want in to a specific group but in order to accomplish this I need to "journal it up." Aight! I'll bite.

Movie time: I went to the local independent movie theater to see "Into the Wild." I have always been a fan of books like Hatchet and My Side of the Mountain. Loved Jack London when i was a kid. I grew up in north eastern PA so we had a nice chunk of land, a four wheeler, guns, dirt bike (singular), fishing poles, you know, those kind of toys. Nature and I have a special understanding. It is quite possibly the most calming place for me .... being under a large oak tree while viewing one of the many super chill ponds on the property. I could go for a walk and sit and center myself when i was going through all the perils of being a teenager in bumb-fuck nowhere. Those crazy confusing times were always put into place when i spent time there. I had dreams of running away and being the my side of the mountain kid. I wanted out. I wanted silence. The movie of my side of the mountain has special meaning to me. It goes like this: When i was in 1st grade there was a horrific death in our family. I was too young to truly understand what was going on and my father had so much on his plate that he took me to the video store and i rented my side of the mountain and he took me to my grandfather's home and there was a TV/VCR set in a back room that had no windows. I remember watching this movie over and over for who knows how long. I was in this windowless room while Sam said fuck the city and all the bullshit and just got back to nature. It was such a momentous time for me. To this day I still fantasize of leaving it all behind because i do feel that "we" have lost connection with what is truly important. There is just too much filler for me.

SO!

I hear of this movie, Into the Wild, and it's right up my alley so i head out on a sunday night in colorado springs. I buy my $5 ticket and my $4 dark beer and find the most perfect seat (i'm ALL for gett'n there early). The movie, wow, i mean, i have never been one for fancy words describing my life experiences and this is definitely one where i am at a complete loss. It's a movie that if you have that little drive in you, that urge for the real, the compassion and love for nature and adventure you should see this movie. It gave me shivers. Multiple times. And of course i cried. I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole theater. Fantastic movie.

Little info on the movie: Screenplay and Directed by Sean Penn.
Music by Eddie Vedder
Stars Emile Herisch
