I miss running a record label. "Be Cool" reminded me. I miss holding auditions, I miss recording and mastering, I miss negotiating with distribution companies. . . DAMN that was fun. Release parties, hotel parties, music everywhere all the time. What's not to love? Compos Mentis. . . Now Northwest Artists. . . It's just good. To see your name on something - to buy your own barcode, to get the album you produced reviewed by CMJ Magazine.
I keep pairing up with the wrong people, though. I can't find anyone with the same vision as I have, and it's REALLY starting to bunch my panties. That's half the reason why I have to sell/shut down each company - lacking partner passion. I just keep hoping that someday, I'll get it right, and there will be that magical 50% walking around that will find me in a conversation and just CLICK.
I'm kind of waiting for that in every department of my life. Mostly business, though. Eh, moot points. Regardless, I need to get back into that - it was healthy, and productive, and successful. PEWP.
