I think I've seen you in dreams
It's a nostalgic sort of thing
But now when I see you
Its only skin deep
When I saw you before
I saw inside of you

When it was your soul I was seeing

Your soul poured like melted gold, streaming
Rich and beautiful but worldly in concern
Because of that, the words you speak
are recited and learned
to keep others pleased, and your mind at ease
You say what they want to hear, not what you mean
It's safer that way
Then no body knows you
none can hurt you
You can't let them in, you're afraid of what they'll do
Or what they'll think
Putting on a mask is easier than facing rejection of your real face
But hiding your natural beauty is such a disgrace
Your soul is made of the finest gold
It should be expressed as honestly as it is pure
Your mind should be spoken proudly and sure
If you keep it inside to be one with the mold
Then surely you have been undersold
By yourself.
Because there is no one else
No one is worth letting them dictate you
When you let them confine you
Your soul is suffocated until it's blue
So deep inside of you that not even your dreams
can let it shine thru
Because when you hide you from everyone else
You hide you from yourself
And if your "friends" don't like it
They aren't worth knowing
Not as worth as your soul is worth showing
Jokes and the sarcasm have become your demise
Your words say so much more than you realize
Because when you say it, you don't mean it
It's just a disguise
But you have to speak up before the fire
inside of you dies
I wont be content until I hear you
Until the words you speak are from your mind
until what you say is true
I could keep going til I am blue in the face
Because robbing the world of your intuitive mind
Is a sad, unnecessary disgrace
But you can wear a mask
and cover your face
You can talk all these words
So you can feel safe
You can build walls as high as the sky
You can hold back the tears you want to cry
You can fake it til you make it
If that's what you want to do
But you cant hide from me
