Vacation Pictures!
I don't take vacations. Seriously, the last time I took a couple of days off of work to do something fun was 2005. I mean sure, I've gone to visit my folks at Thanksgiving, or I've taken a day off now and then, but to actually go somewhere for no reason other than to have a good time... It's been years.
So I just got back from a long weekend in Tampa. Specifically Ybor City in Tampa which is the Latin District. It's kind of the Cuban version of Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Why Tampa? Well, I'm a cigar nerd and if you can't make it to Cuba, Tampa is the next best thing. The fact that Ybor is a crazy party neighborhood too? That much better.
Anyway, I got there and immediately noticed that this place is pretty much "Anything Goes". Checking out the shops I found some ridiculous pants as evidenced below. The whole shop was full of crazy shit, but these made me laugh.
On the streets, I saw plenty of weird too (and not just the people who are out in droves). Seriously, KISS seat covers? Yeah.
Found a great Greek place on the main strip Friday night and had a few drinks and a good cigar while people watching.
By the time I took the next picture, I was good and drunk, so I apologize for the blur, but this is the center of the area.
Saturday, after nursing a hangover for a little bit, I went down to Clearwater Beach and chilled out.
Then partied again Saturday night. I met a guy who runs a shop there on 7th Ave and I basically just sat drinking and people watching until 3 a.m. So many freaks there. Coming from me, that's saying something.
Sunday was a little more slowly paced after two days of hard partying. I just kind of wandered around, rode the street car, hung out at the hotel pool, and rode out a thunderstorm at a little shop downtown. I did finish the evening at an excellent Italian place called the Laughing Cat and took a picture of the bar just because.
Anyway, I had a really good time and will probably have to go back at some point. I'm still on vacation and heading off in a couple hours with my friend to go see Black Flag tonight. So I'm sure there will be more pictures soon.
