Well, I finally have had a spare moment to update my journal.
I am in Austin...I made it...2000 miles and some mishaps on the way.
Thursday May 6: I got a phone call stating that the truck wasn't going to be ready on time. It was in one location and had to be driven to the pick-up site. I volunteered to pick up the truck...Okay, they said...Then, I get another call. "We will bring the truck here so you don't have to pick it up". Okay...My driver who is my best friends' husband and I went to pick up the truck. 15 foot truck with a car carrier, 36 blankets and a dolly. Where are my blankets? "We don't have enough blankets here." Where is my dolly? "Oh, that isn't on your order". Since the truck was from Public Storage and not Penske...there was nothing I could do but drive to Penske to pick up the blankets and the dolly.
However, Craig the Penske manager, gave the blankets, dolly and threw in a lock for free....
The truck got packed and there was just the last day...Friday for the last minute crap.....I also got a lucky 1950's penny that day...kept it until I got to Austin...Thank God...You will see why as you read on.
Friday May 7: Time to go...My landlord, who is also my close friend of 6 years and his wife, helped Hilik my driver get the last minute preparations and loading completed...Then we were on the road. Everything was going well....UNTIL..we ran out of gas in East Bum Fuck New York. That sucked. It was hot and my dogs were freaking out...Good Fortune...A lost man from Lebanon, parked behind us and asked us how to get to JFK Airport. He was only two hours lost out of his way. Hilik is an Israeli National with a green card. He speaks fluent Hebrew, Spanish and English. I didn't feel comfortable going with a man I didn't know, so I had Hilik go. 15 minutes later...we had gas. We stopped to fill the tank and eat some food, rest etc. We continued on our journey...Next stop Pennsylvania...otherwise know as big long ass drive! While we were in Pennsylvania...GUESS WHAT....We got side swiped by a SEMI....Fortunately, the only thing that happened is the mirror got knocked off. However, we had to pull of the road because the driver didn't stop and wait for the State Police. Then we had to call Penske to fix the mirror. Mirrors are extremely important when you are driving a truck. Hilik has his commercial truck driver's license, so I trusted his opinion. We spoke to the officer and then we were off to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for the truck repair. Truck repair only took 30 minutes. The Penske guys were AWESOME...I will post the Penske guy group shot photo soon. By 2:00am...we were in Roanoke, VA....800 miles, DAY ONE.
Saturday May 8: Had some sleep...took a shower...felt much better...Stopped in VA (Blue Ridge Mountain area) at a Dennys for some take out food. I ordered and the waitress was friends with this little girl...They have one of those machines that you pay 50 cents to get a stuffed animal....the waitress Kara, (from Austin) asked me if I could win a stuffed animal for her little friend....And I DID
I won her a tiger that was white with black and white stripes. She wanted to name it TATTOO...but since my first doll's name was Shiny...whe named it Shiny Tattoo....PHOTOS TO BE POSTED SOON
Next stop.....Memphis, Tennesee. Stayed the night in Memphis.
Sunday May 9: Mother's Day. Rushed out of the Hotel to purchase Elvis souvenirs. Hilik wanted to get gifts for his wife....blah...blah...blah...I just wanted to drive to AUSTIN, TEXAS!!! We bought our souvenirs, then I got to eat my breakfast after waiting for several hours to eat. I turn into a bitch when I am hungry. We drove to Arkansas and hit another Denny's. I won a green fox for my dog Lucky...Karen, Hilik's wife named her Fern. Then I won a Dog for these three kids....The girl had "cheer" on her shirt...the little boy had some homeboy brand clothing on and the other kid had a shirt that had "Mac Daddy" on the back...so we all agreed...Mac Daddy was the dogs name....Rolled into Austin Monday am...stayed at the Austin Motel per Mulhollanddrives' advice. Took a long hot bath....WOO FUCKING HOO.
Monday May 10: Homebound at last...check out...arrived at the final destination. Mulhollandrive and Xiphoidtoo showed up to help me move in. Then we went to lunch at Trudy's, shopped at Central Market, TARJAY and then back to my place...Thanks again guys.
Tuesday May 11: Took my friend to the airport...WHAT THE FUCK!!! Dude got arrested for carrying two box cutters and a butterfly knife....plus he is ISRAELI...then the FBI was involved and he was arrested and detained in the Travis County Jail...Oh...FUN. Bail was set at $12,500.00! Yes, That is no typo.
Wednesday May 10: I think I slept 3 hours. Woke up and started to research the best way to bail him out. I worked with Karen's father, (Hilik's wife) all morning to find the best option to bail him out....by 7:00...he was out.....He bought me things for my house and food to show his appreciation.
Thursday May 11: Took Hilik to the airport...He is safe now...He is on his way back home. Now it is just getting his charges dropped. Went to visit Mulhollanddrive at work today and shopped for food, etc...Hanging out with JACX tomorrow...should be fun...
SGTX Friends...My birthday is on Saturday...Sunday afternoon...Cake, wine and beer...My place...try to make it...email me and let me know...JACX couldn't make it on Saturday and it was a conflict for Mulhollanddrive...So, I'll just celebrate my birthday on Sunday....
Just so ya'll know...if I don't respond to your journal's....I am just taking it easy now...I AM FINALLY HOME!!!!!!!
