Ok, so I usually don't post this often..more like weekly but what the hell.
I've been at my job for almost 2 1/2 years. In that time I've requested only one day off and never called out sick. A guy started last year the day after christmas. He missed 18 days in 11 months. Reasons:
Basement flooded - one day
Toothache - 2 days
Sick with a virus - one week
Called out sick for a Sunday but he called in Saturday morning (do you know you're going to still be sick the next fucking afternoon??)
Went to a Yankee game on a saturday which was rain
delayed to sunday so he was "stuck in NY at a Yankee game"
His fiancee's son was de-hydrated and had to be taken to the hospital - 3 days off
And the latest right before xmas was for a few 3 day spells because his fiancee was having false labor, contractions and was in and out of the hospital a few times...
Ok, finally 2 weeks ago they had a son, he takes 2 weeks maturnity leave. Last night he calls in and asks for an additional week off because the baby is having "complications". Ok, seriously, is it right to miss 40 days at any job in a 13 month period? My manager insists that they can't do anything with maturnity leave since Clinton passed a law protecting men as well as women. What about the other 20 days he missed before? Because of the maturnity thing it's as if those days don't count. What the fuck ever! Just a side note..when one guy isn't at work it means an extra 3 hours work for the rest of us..per day (on average, more when we are busy).
