I just saw the nominees for the Yahoo! Branded Person of the Year. Barry Bonds, Britney Spears, Howard Stern, Eminem, and so on...I voted for Kofi Annan, just because it felt the least culturally reprehensible choice, and the only one not 100% PR driven.
But if these are the best we can come up with, I pray for us all. All this talk about how firefighters and police officers are heroes, and I'm given a choice of fucking popular entertainers? Doesn't anyone make a difference anymore?
