i just made THE BEST roast i have ever had in my life. ME!!! the girl who cannot handle anything more complicated than boiling water or turning on the oven! actually the most surprising thing was how good it was since it really was super easy to make. all i did was put a 3lbs rump roast into the ol crock pot (which i have never even used before and i've had it for five years+ ) then dump in a can of condensed beef broth and a can of condensed cream of mushroom with roasted garlic soup. then i chop up a handfull of mushrooms and a couple of carrots and threw them in there too just cause i'm lazy and didn't want to have to cook any veggies later. set it to low and leave it alone for 8 hours.

it. was. so. good. the meet just shredded apart and the gravy was DELICIOUS! damnit if i won't be June Cleaver one of these days. seriously- the crock pot is my new best friend. why did i wait so long to try it out?

the only sad part was that john wasn't here to share in my triumph. i did get to talk to him this morning though. i hadn't heard from him in about a week and he said that another man was killed so the internet and the phones were shut down until the family had been notified.

this tour isn't even a third of the way through and alread two men have been killed. sigh....

i don't want to think about it.
