I love art and I honestly couldn't narrow it down to one so I've decided instead ro wrote about the artists who inspire me the most.
My dad
Though my dad has had no published works and is by no means famous, he is a great artist. My dad is the reason I picked up a pencil in the first place
Back in the day my dad dabbled in everything. He was the guy his friends came too when they wanted something awesome sprayed on their rides, he painted and sketched. My dad was hugely influenced by Japanese artists and Sci-fi and fantasy artists, like Frank Frazetta. Though. I knew my dad for his wildlife sketches. We would sit outside and I would try to copy him and he mastered the art of drawing the birds in our backyard.
Frank Frazetta
Frazetta was always around me when I was younger. These images are responsible for my love of sci-fi and fantasy. I used to stare at my dads print books for hours, try to recreate them with my paints and fantasise about living in the worlds Frazetta had created! I believe they hugely contributed to my body positivity too, simply because every woman is baring such wonderful curves. Frazetta painted his women strong, powerful, sensual and unashamed of their bodies. Everything I wanted to be when I grew up!
Petrina Hicks
I was lucky enough to work with Petrina on a project when I was in high school. She is the reason I decided to model! Although I was a confident teen I never saw myself as particularly interesting but when Petrina picked me out of hundreds of girls in my school to participate in a modelling project I was surprised to say the least. Our photo even won an award!
She is such a talented photographer and all of her work speaks to me and inspires me
Frida Kahlo
I think this pick will be a pretty popular one but it's true nonetheless. There is always so much happening in each artwork that picking them apart and figuring out what they mean was the majority of my art studies entertainment! Haha. There is so much pain and yet also so much strength in her artworks that as a woman I find each one speaks to a part of me.
