Not fired.

Good.

Worked out coverage to go to the NIN/JA show.

Also Good.

Old stores new manager sucking it up.

Funny, but not surprising. And a little bit satisfying. I worked my butt off in that busy ass store. My boss would criticize my store, which is her job, and I took notes and always tried to make improvements. It got to the point where both visually and operationally, we were sound. But now that me and my team are gone, the store has fallen apart and their performance is in the gutter.

Since I always complain about work, I figured a good update was due. While working for this company, I've gone to some cool shit, gotten cool shit for free, and been privilege never before seen footage of games that don't come out for months.

I've also met some cool people. As well as some famous people. My favorite being, Mr. Wil Wheaton. He was a very polite customer, and was very nice and friendly even though I geeked all over him. I made sure he got a rock band bundle when we were no longer taking reservations on them, and he gave me a signed copy of his book as a thanks. I also bought one of his action figures when the sun coast was going out of business, and I had it on my desk next to Data and Geordi, and when he came in to the store one of my associates got him to sign it for me. It was a nice surprise.

Mathew Lillard came in a couple times as well. He didn't respond as well to my geeking though. He asked about wii games then suddenly had to leave when I let on that I knew who he was. I wasn't as overly obvious. I just stated that he looked familiar, because I wasn't positive it was him. He was looking pretty haggard. He responded with "Yeah, I have one of those jobs." And I was like, "Oh, cool." And he said thanks for the help but he had to jet.

Marlee Matlin came in with her daughter to buy a game for another kids party. She asked a lot of questions about the content of the game to ensure it was appropriate. Meanwhile her daughter was saying, "Mom, she asked for this game, we played it at Kimmy's house." It was cute. She also reserved a game and came in with her husband to pick it up. I've seen her in various things, my favorite being What the Bleep do we know. But I couldn't help but think of this. Which i'd seen just days before she came in. I felt like a douche for snickering, because she turned out to be a nice person.

Then one day I showed up to work, and noticed film crews and security roaming about my wing of the mall. Some of the crew were coming in and out of my store, and I could hear the director barking orders through their walkies. I asked one of the guys what they were working on and they told me it was a scene in the movie, Eagle Eye. A few hours later, one of them comes back into my store with Shia Lebouf. He seemed kind of spacey and awkward. And he nearly pouted like a little boy when the crew member told him he didn't have time to go back to his trailer for cash to buy a game.

All in all I've had some really interesting and fun experiences at my job. Even though it gets stressful, what with the threats and incompetence of the upper management.

What do you love/hate about your job? What would you be doing if things had worked out exactly as you'd planned? Or did you get everything you planned on?
