So...
I told the cafe i can't work sundays, because i get paid more on sundays at the yacht club. they seemed quite distressed and have been trying to find someone to fill my position for sundays...
The owner said to me "Think of a solution" and im thinking "pay me more"
I asked for more shifts, or if they were available and so he's called me in on every one of my days off to try to give me the hours i need.
Today, seeing him struggle through another pointless trial shift with a hopeless random, asking them if they can do sundays, i asked how many shifts would be available to me. He said "as many as u want, we love having you on board and want to keep you on board."
I asked, "Guaranteed?" he said "Like I said, we want you here as much as possible"
This is awesome, because i love working there, i actually love working. Normally I hate work cos it takes time away from my boy, but with him on the mines, and the majority of my friends working 9-5 weekdays, i have very little else to do with my time.
I said to him "If i can get as many hours as i want here, i may be able to work sundays for you"
He looked so relieved and happy and said "And you know... ur wage is based on ur ability. What we're paying you right now is the base standard legal wage for your age, but if you're showing great capability it can be negotiated. And you are, we love having you here. You are so capable and show great potential, we're even thinking if you'd want to we'd like you to take on extra responsibility in the future because you work so well here and you know so much and work so well, of course we'd then pay you more etc etc"
Then he likens the position I'd be offered to Amanda's. Amanda has been with the cafe 8 years and knows the place inside and out. For me to be offered a position alongside hers and identical to hers when I've only been there a week! I'm so stoked!!
Obviously it's not yet, but i havent even worked very hard at all, i've just enjoyed myself and used my common sense and suddenly im supervisor spec material. He talked about me being in charge when he wants to have a day off etc.
WOW...
I've made an impression, clearly. Pretty fucken stoked hey!!
Makes froggy being away a lot easier too :'(
