So these new game consoles.

What's up with them, anyway?

Honestly, the Revolution is the only one I'm excited about. Weird new controller, cheap price tag, in-console emulation, and full backwards compatibility are the features it has (or that it's said to have) that the other two lack. And Microsoft and Sony's decisions haven't been very impressive. The 360's crappy Xbox emulation (no JSRF? What the crap?) and the PS3's ugly-ass controller don't exactly inspire confidence. And with Sony's recent DRM issues I wouldn't be surprised to see the PS3 bogged down with annoying copy-protection crap. I dunno, I've always been the type to buy all the systems and respect them all, but it seems like Microsoft and Sony aren't even trying. They're just making their systems more expensive in order to support slightly better graphics and shinier in order to support mirror-like functionality (or something).

I'm sure I'll end up buying them all eventually, but I can't see myself getting the 360 or PS3 at launch. Especially not with $400+ prices. Nintendo's actually making all (or almost all, I'd really like a hard drive) the right decisions for the first time since the SNES, and it's kinda nice to see.

While I'm at it, I'll go ahead and say that while the PSP has some awesome features, I'm not that impressed so far. Maybe I'll get one if Sony stops crippling all the cool features with each update, or if they come out with a game that looks decent. The DS has some cool games, but it's still kinda expensive. I'm sure I'll get one once Super Princess Peach and the new Super Mario Bros. come out, though. I love me some old-school platforming.
